--Displayed on
the brick facing of the San Jose Obrero Mission, a Latino nonprofit wellness
shelter, lies an image entitled “Wall of Hope”. Though the project was formally headed by artist Jesús “Chucho” Rodriguez... members from the Yollocalli
Arts Reach also contributed to the brilliant frieze.
--Yollocalli
Arts Reach, is an initiative of the National Museum of Mexican Art (located in
the heart of Pilsen), generated to promote urban youth outreach. The
program works with emerging young artists to create innovative forms of
artistic expression.
--Work created by the Yollocalli artists is featured all over the Chicago area....many building sites utilize artistic murals to depict social, racial, and political issues in the community.
